EDGAR EDWARD "SHORTY" LEWIS, 72, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016, in Bryan, Texas. He was born December 16, 1943, in Liberty, Texas, the son of Lester and Mabel (Burkhart) Lewis. Edgar grew up and attended schools in the Humble area, graduating from Humble High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 until 1967, obtaining the rank of Sargeant. Edgar attended San Jacinto Jr. College, in Houston. He was united in marriage to Elaine Cariola, on June 4, 1966, in Trenton, New Jersey. Edgar was employed as an Oilfield Consultant with West Engineering of Brookshire, retiring after 20+ years of service. Later, he owned and operated Sanctuary Arms in Bellville, utilizing his hobby of guns, guns and more guns. Edgar was a member of the Bellville Masonic Lodge #223. Edgar is survived by his wife of over 50 years: Elaine Lewis of Bellville; daughter: Karen Lewis DeLeon and her husband, Pete, of Bellville; son: Michael Lewis and his wife, Kimberly, of Bellville; sister: Betty Skinner of Spring; brother: Walter Lewis and his wife, Lorene, of Dayton; grandchildren: Camille Brunet, Travis Brunet, Ashley DeLeon, Jessica Schroeder, Ashley Winklemann and her husband, Jerry, Hannah Lewis and Michaela Lewis and great grandson: Easton Southerland. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mabel Lewis; sisters, Mary, Ethel and Pat; and brothers, Lester and Freddie.
