Martin "Marty" Wessel

MARTIN RICHARD "MARTY" WESSEL, 56, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, in Bryan, Texas. He was born June 3, 1960, in Breese, Illinois, the son of Bernard Joseph and Nancy Ann (Frerker) Wessel. Marty grew up and attended schools in Carroll, Iowa, graduating from Kuemper High School. He made his home in Bellville, Texas, where he was a truck driver for Wal-Mart, for over 10 years. An avid outdoorsman, Marty enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbequing, playing golf and storytelling, but his heart was with his Community of Faith Church, in Hockley. He was a greeter and a group leader. Marty also assisted with Vacation Bible School, a member of the Pit Huggers Association at church and participated in the Father-Son Connection. Marty is survived by his mother: Nancy Wessel of Centralia, Illinois; sister: Dona Wadkins; nephew: Andrew J. Wadkins; aunts and uncles: Evelyn Land of Boston, Massachusetts, Sister Frances Wessel of Springfield, Missouri, Father Jack Frerker of Olympia, Washington, Dick Frerker and wife, Pat, of Germantown, Illinois, Lynda Frerker of Long Beach, California, Mary Berndsen and husband, Bob, of Breese, Illinois, Rich Hellige and wife, Peg, of Breese, Illinois, Jim Danehy and wife, Marj, of Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, dear relatives and friends. Marty was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Wessel, grandparents, August and Eugenia Wessel, Bill and Agnes Frerker.
