Naomi Anita Ward, 92, of Ledbetter, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Katy, Texas of natural causes. She was born in Goose Creek, Texas on May 3, 1923 to Thomas Markham and Naomi (Hill) Markham. She grew up in the Goose Creek area and attended Sinton High School. On October 26, 1939 she married Howard Ward in Refugio, Texas. As a housewife she traveled where the Oil Industry moved her family from Houston to Corpus Christi, ending up in Simonton. She was a Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church in Sealy, Texas. For over 30 years she rode her bike 10 miles five days each week. Her love for fishing took her wade fishing until she reached the age of 88. Besides fishing she loved working in her yard. Naomi was preceded in death by her husband Howard Ward, her parents, daughter Sharon Moody, and granddaughters Jennifer and Tammy Phillips. She is survived by her daughters: Robin Nowak and husband Don of Ledbetter, Texas, Jennifer Campbell and husband Randy of Katy, Becky Phillips and husband Barry of Rockdale, Texas, Evelyn Schmidt and husband Rick of Lockhart, Texas and Kay Countis of New Caney, Texas, Sister, Joyce Roland, Parker, AZ. Grandchildren: Michelle (Derek) Janner, Brice Campbell (Kiki), Cassidy Campbell (Shawna), Wade Phillips (Sarah), Keith Schmidt, Leeman Schmidt (Dagny), Howard Moody (JoAnn), Mike Brubaker, Ward Brubaker, and Gretchen (Mark Holter). Great Grandchildren: Paige and Morgan Janner, Kya, Avery, Riley, Bethyn, Cavynaugh Campbell, Brooke, Jude and Jacob Campbell, Halle and Zachary Phillips, Reagan (Mike) Neely, Emily, Brennan (Courtney) and Tyler Brubaker, Rodney Holter, Jessica and Samantha Moody. Great Great Grandchildren: Mara Neely and Kailyn Brubaker.
