Harry S. Badger

August 17, 1922 — December 30, 2015

Private Family Graveside Service HARRY S. BADGER, JR. peacefully passed from this earth December 30, 2015, surrounded by his family. He is now with his heavenly Father and his precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mr. "B", 93, was born in Houston, Texas on August 17, 1922 to Harry and Agnes Badger. He was preceded in death by his wife Jo Helen Badger in 2002. He is survived by his four children, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: his son Bruce and wife Susan, their sons, Steven, Travis and wife Tawny, Colt and wife Brooke, Davis and Bo, and Steven''s son Ty; his daughter Karen and husband Pete Sanchez, Jr., their son, Scott and wife Katharine, their sons, Caden, Isaiah and Joshua and their daughter Elita and husband Ryan Friesen, their children Noah, Jackson, Seth and Macy Jo; daughter Linda Jo Badger; and son Harry B. Towler and wife Jeannette. He is also survived by his brother Algernon Sidney Badger and nieces Elizabeth and Margaret and nephew John. Mr. Badger was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the Army Signal Corps in the Philippines. While receiving treatments for polio at the VA hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas, he met and fell in love with his beloved Jo Babe. He received the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in 1944. He began his long and distinguished career as an electrical engineer and PE. He was an officer and director at the firm of Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam until his retirement in the mid 90''s. His second career was his most enjoyable professionally as he was hired by the firm of Shah Smith to "train" young engineers until he retired on his 90th birthday. He loved his professional family as if they were his own and they really were. Mr. "B" believed in giving back. Whether as a mentor, working with young men in the DeMolay, Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Church Elder, chairman of the building committee or volunteer, he always touched others with a sense of worth. He proudly served on the Board at the Dad''s Club YMCA in Spring Valley and later served as a member of the Board of the YMCA of Greater Houston. He served as a City Councilman and then a Mayor of the City of Spring Valley for many years, but his "favorite" service to the City of Spring Valley was as a reserve police officer. What he was best at as a loving husband and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. "B" set the standards for his family and his community by following the standards he learned from the Bible. The influence of his relationship with the Lord is seen time and time again in the life of his good and faithful servant. We love you Dad, Grandad and Great. Private burial services for the family will be held at the Houston National Cemetery with Dr. Pete Sanchez, Jr. officiating. There will be no viewing. Please, no flowers. As a memorial to Mr. Badger, contributions may be made to either Rice University or YMCA of Greater Houston. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the ICU ward at Methodist Hospital West for their care of Mr. Badger and his family during this last week.
