Gladys Emma (Henske) Tiemann

GLADYS (HENSKE) TIEMANN, 101, of Bellville, Texas, died peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2015. She was born November 13, 1914, in New Wehdem, Texas, the daughter of Theodore and Emily (Lueckemeyer) Henske. Gladys grew up in Austin County and attended school in New Wehdem. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, where she was also united in marriage to Henry Tiemann on June 25, 1938. They lived in New Wehdem until 1954, when they moved to Bellville. Gladys and Henry joined St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville and became actively involved in the life of the church. Gladys taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was a member of Mary Circle and worked with the Lutheran Social Services quilters at the church. She was also a member of the Bluebonnet Quilt Guild where for many years she did all the hand quilting of the raffle quilts. Gladys was employed at J.B. White Department Store. Hobbies at various phases of her life included dancing, gardening, sewing, quilting, traveling and playing cards with friends. Gladys is survived by her DAUGHTER: Carol Bosse of Lakeway, Texas; GRANDCHILDREN: Sharon Lin and her husband, Jesse, of Newbury Park, California, and Susan Vasquez and her husband, Erik, of Santa Barbara, California; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Evan and Ryan Lin, and Ava and Noal Vasquez. She is also survived by her SISTER: Ruth Emshoff of Brenham; BROTHER-IN-LAW: Allen Garling of Bellville; SISTER-IN-LAW: Margaret Tiemann of Phillipsburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry, sisters, Ella Mae Henske, Hattie Engeling and Frances Garling, and son-in-law, Gene Bosse. The family wishes to thank Shenu, Jeri and the staff at Rose Hill Retirement Home for their loving care of Gladys.
