Dorothy M. (Ratjen) Goodnight

Dorothy M. (Ratjen) Goodnight, 83, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015, in LaGrange, Texas. She was born April 16, 1932, in Snook, Texas, the daughter of Henry and Alvina Kollaja Ratjen. Dorothy graduated from Bellville High School before attending the St. Joseph Nursing School where she received her Nursing Degree. Dorothy dedicated her life to caring for others; she was employed at Bellville General Hospital as the operating room nurse for over 50 years. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, bird watching and had a love for animals. She is survived by her daughter: Carol New and her husband, Ben, of Sweeny; son: James Michael Goodnight and his wife, Brenda, of Farmington, N.M.; grandchildren: Brent, Brandon and wife Ashley, Cori and husband, Josh, Blake, James Dustin, Emily and husband, Robert; great grandchildren: Joshua and Ari. She is also survived by her sister: Jane Innes of Bellville; brothers: Charles Ratjen of Brazoria and Larry Ratjen and his wife, Linda, of Bellville and numerous nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Alvina Ratjen, brother, Leroy Ratjen, sister-in-law, Barbara Ratjen and nephews, Jason and Jonah Innes.
