Gladys Kocurek

GLADYS GREGORY KOCUREK, 94, of Brookshire, Texas, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015, in Benbrook, Texas. Gladys was born August 6, 1921, in Brookshire, Texas, south of the I-10 area, about where Rooms to Go is now located. The daughter of Edgar and Mary (Haak) Gregory, one of eight siblings. She grew up and attended schools in the Brookshire area, graduating from Pattison High School. Gladys was united in marriage to Johnnie Kocurek. They made their home in the Brookshire area. She was employed, and retired with the United States Postal Service in Brookshire, Texas. Gladys was a member of the Pattison United Methodist Church, serving with the hospitality committee and a member of Woodmen of the World. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her chickens, turkeys and her rose bushes. Gladys is survived by her SONS: Johnny Kocurek and his wife, Barbara, of Canyon Lake, Venton Kocurek and his wife, Nancy, of Aledo, and Vernon Kocurek and his wife, Gina, of Katy; DAUGHTER: Miranda Hammerling and her husband, Roy, of Beaumont; GRANDCHILDREN: James, Anthony, Andrew, Zachary, Sandra, David, Brent, Jacob, Cheyenne; GREAT CHILDREN: Shelby, Abby, and Danielle; GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: McKenna, Mason, Briggs, Raleigh, Logan and Hudson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Kocurek, parents, Edgar and Mary Gregory, seven siblings and granddaughter, Cynthia Bond.
