Florence Lucille Koehn Luhn

FLORENCE LUCILLE KOEHN LUHN, 93, lifelong Bellville resident, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, in Bellville. Florence was born December 25, 1921, in Bellville, Texas. The daughter of Fritz H. and Louise Ziemer Koehn, she grew up and attended school in the Piney Community and graduated from Bellville High School. On June 12, 1943, Florence married Roger Luhn at the Bellville United Methodist Church. They made their home in Bellville where they were active members of St. John Lutheran Church. A devoted wife, Florence worked side by side with her husband, ranching and farming. For 50 years, she enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with various groups. A "people person," Florence loved to socialize and she often visited the shut-ins from the church. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to the gospel group at St. John''s and was a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Austin County Farm Bureau, Coshatte Agricultural Society, and the Bellville Hospital Ladies'' Auxiliary. Florence enjoyed canning and cooking for her family. She is survived by her SON: Fred Luhn and his wife, Sherry; and DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Rosie Luhn; all of Bellville; GRANDCHILDREN: Greg Luhn and friend, Brenda, Jill Carley and husband, Tommy, Laurie Haseltine and husband, William and Shawna Svinky and husband, Michael; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Jackson Carley, Kathryn Carley, Mary Haseltine, Amy Haseltine, Brady Roger Svinky and Hattie Lucille Svinky; SISTER-IN-LAW: Ruby Koehn of Bellville; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear domino and card playing friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger, son Harold, sister Bernice Krause Iselt, and brothers Kinch Koehn and Albert Koehn.
