Peggy Ruth Berry Justiss

PEGGY RUTH (BERRY) JUSTISS, 85, of Bellville, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at her home. Peggy was born October 4, 1929, in Forney, Texas, to parents Mark Raymond and Bess Hudgins Berry. She grew up and attended school in Paris, Texas, graduating from Paris High School. She then attended the University of Texas in Austin where she earned a Bachelor''s Degree in Education. Peggy married Jesse E. Justiss, Jr., on August 23, 1953. They made their home in Wallis, Texas, where Jesse opened a general medical practice. They later made their home in Bellville, Texas, where they were members of the Bellville United Methodist Church. Jesse was invited to join partnership with Dr. J.A. Neely, Dr. Winston Neely, J.B. Harle and Dr. H. Roensch in October, 1960, eventually opening his own OB-GYN practice. Peggy worked as his Office Manager until Jesse''s retirement in 1999. After retirement, she and Jesse loved traveling. They both were private pilots and the last plane she flew was a Beechcraft Debonair. She enjoyed cooking, reading and gardening. Jesse preceded Peggy in death on September 28, 2006. Peggy was a charter and active member of the Austin County Chorale for a number of years serving as pianist and later singing with the group. Peggy is survived by her TWO SONS: Jesse Edward Justiss, III of Bellville, and David Berry Justiss and his wife, Jennifer Chumas, of Houston; her BELOVED GRANDCHILDREN: Emmett David and Emily-Rose Grace Justiss, both of Houston; BROTHER: Raymond Emmett Berry and his wife, Sally, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; NIECES AND NEPHEWS: Suzanne, Ashley and Mark; and several great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers are Dr. Don Bosse, Gary Frank, Roy Acebo, Don Allphin, John Harle and Daryl Allphin. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Austin County Civic Chorale.
