CMSgt. KEVIN E. WENDT, 47, of North Pole, Alaska, passed away Saturday, May 30th, 2015, in North Pole, Alaska. He was born January 17, 1968, in Houston, Texas, the son of Wilbert Wendt, Jr. and Kathleen Wyatt. He grew up and attended schools in Bellville, Texas, graduating from Bellville High School. Chief Master Sergeant Wendt entered the Air Force in March 1988. His background is as a C-130 Crew Chief and Weather Forecaster. During his tour in Okinawa, Chief Wendt served as an Armed Force''s Network Broadcaster, presenting nightly weather forecasters to an audience of over 50K military and civilian personnel. He has served in a variety of leadership positions including, Detachment NCOIC, Acting First Sergeant, and both Operations and Squadron Superintendents. Chief Wendt s assignments included bases in Washington, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Okinawa, Germany, South Korea, North Carolina, and Arizona. He also has eight years of Army assignments. He has deployed numerous times to locations including, Honduras, Japan, Philippines, Kosovo, and Iraq over his 25 year career. Chief Wendt was the Group Superintendent, 354th Operations Group, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. As the superintendent, Chief Wendt provided enlisted leadership to an operations group comprised of three squadrons and one geographically separated detachment totaling over 190 personnel. Chief Wendt had many accomplishments: In 1991, he took the Non-Commissioned Officer Predatory Course, Hurlburt Field, FL, 2003, Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, Robbins AFB, GA (Distinguished Graduate Award), 2005, Associate Applied Science, Weather Technology, CCAF, 2010 USAF First Sergeant Academy, Additional Duty Symposium, Air University, 2011, USAF Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, Maxwell AFB, AL (Distinguished Graduate Award), 2013, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course. During his career with the Air Force, CMSgt. Wendt served at 13 different duty stations, receiving 16 different medals and accommodations. Chief Wendt is survived by his WIFE: Bo Won Kim Wendt of North Pole, AK; CHILDREN: Ashley and Joshua Wendt of North Pole, AK; FATHER: Wilbert Wendt of Bellville, TX; MOTHER: Kathleen Wyatt of Guatemala, Mexico; SISTERS: Tracy Corum and her husband, Cody, of Bellville, TX, Michelle Mitchell and her husband, David, of Hempstead, TX, Kayla Tadsen and her husband, Todd, of Hendersonville, NC, and Krysta Wyatt of Irvin, CA; PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER: Flora Wendt of Bellville, TX. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
