Jimmie Doris Lynn

JIMMIE DORIS (GOURLEY) LYNN was born December 24, 1921, in Jacksonville, Texas. The daughter of James C. Gourley and Dolly (Murphy) Gourley, she grew up and attended school in Jacksonville graduating from Jacksonville High School. On June 16, 1940, Doris married Edgar Lynn in Amarillo, Texas. They made their home in Bellville where Doris owned and operated Lynn''s Beauty Shop for many years. Upon retirement, Doris and Edgar moved to the Lynn home place in Kenney. Doris was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Bellville for over 60 years where she enjoyed working with the children in the nursery and the serving group for families after services. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Brenham Art League where she enjoyed watercolor art. Her hobbies included fishing (a favorite), gardening and reading. Doris passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, in Brenham at the age of 93. She is survived by her DAUGHTER: Patsy Mikeska of Kenney; SONS: Joe Ed Lynn and wife, Patsy, of Bellville, and Fred Lynn and Judy Heddon of Kenney; GRANDCHILDREN: Jon Lynn of Bellville, Zachary Lynn of Amarillo, Paige Lynn of Bushland, Greta Gammill and husband, Matt, of College Station; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Garett Gammill and Vann Michael Lynn; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edgar Lynn, son-in-law, Floyd Mikeska, grandson, Michael Lynn Mikeska, and four sisters and one brother.
