ALLEN SWINTON, 85, of Brookshire, Texas, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015, in Katy, Texas. Allen was born December 5, 1929, in Brookshire, Texas, the son of V. Allen and Hattie Swinton. Allen confessed Christ at an early age and grew up as a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Brookshire, Texas. On May 3, 1966, Allen married Johnnie Lee Gaston. They made their home in Houston, Texas. Allen lived in Houston for 35 years where he was a member of Yale Street Baptist Church. After his retirement, Allen returned to Brookshire where he was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Allen was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who treasured his time with family. An avid outdoorsman, he loved working in his yard. He kept his yard immaculate. He also loved taking care of his horse, "Little Man". Allen loved working with his hands and was always creating something. He was kind, gentle and his presence and genuine smile could lift your spirits when you were down. Allen was a loving, caring and compassionate person who loved giving to, and helping others. He leaves to mourn his passing THREE DAUGHTERS: Judy Wilborn (Emroy), Janice Reid (Omar), and Yvonne Sibley; ONE SON: Allen Sibley. Allen has THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Rodrick Wilborn, Tiffany Gasper (Chad), and Briana Reid. He has FOUR GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Jarod Wilborn, Chad Gasper, Madison Gasper and Chace Gasper. He leaves to mourn ONE GODDAUGHTER: Danielle Branch-Lane; TWO SISTERS-IN-LAW: Minnie R. Johnson and Eleanor Dabney; and a host of family and friends. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, V. Allen and Hattie Swinton, wife, Johnnie Lee Swinton, grandmother, Althea Diggs and brother, Raymond Johnson, Sr.
