Charles Edwin Laird

CHARLES EDWIN LAIRD, 82, of Brookshire, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015, in Houston, Texas. He was born April 2, 1932, in Winters, Texas, the son of Frank Love and Vela (Durden) Laird. He grew up and attended schools in Winters, graduating from Winters High School. Charles was united in marriage to Betty Jo Salter in Ballinger, Texas, in 1951. He and Betty made their home in Pleasant Grove in Dallas, from the early 60''s to the late 70''s, before moving to Kaufman, Texas. Charles was a machinist with Bell Helicopter from 1975 to 1988. In 2012, Charles and Betty moved to Pattison, Texas, to live with their daughter, Lisa. Charles was the President of College Mound Water Supply Corp. for 4 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in local bands, working on cars, gardening and photography. Charles is survived by WIFE OF 63 YEARS: Betty Jo Laird of Pattison; DAUGHTERS: Lisa Laird and Carolyn Laird, both of Pattison, Debra Brewer and her husband, Terry, of Waxahachie, TX and Brenda Clark of Forney, TX; SON: Jerry Laird and his wife, Donna, of Princeton, TX; GRANDCHILDREN: Charla Loss and her husband, Brian, of Kaufman, TX, Vickie Besherse of Pattison, Brittany Payne and her husband, James, of Athens, TX, Cody Gosnell and his wife, Geneva, of Mabank, TX, Misty James and her husband, David, of Sherman, TX, Jerry H. Laird and his wife, Tina, of Caddo Mills, TX, James White of Canton, TX and Denise Gibson and her husband, Larry, of Waxahachie, TX; GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Alexis, Brooke, Whitney, D.J., Michael, Brendon, Angelina, Gracie, Georgia, Riley, Mathew, McKenzie, Giselle and Kellan. He is also survived by his BROTHERS: Calvin Laird of Runnels County and Chester Laird of DeSoto, TX and many other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Love and Vela Nabeth Laird, son-in-law, Larry Clark and brother, Carlton Laird. Pallbearers are Cody Gosnell, Brian Loss, Jerry Laird, Frank Jones, Kenneth Attaway and Charla Loss.
