ANNIE LAURA DAY, 75, of Brookshire, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, at her home in Brookshire, Texas. Annie Laura was born on December 11, 1938, in Wells, Texas, to parents John M. and Mary Lucretia McFarland Mason. She grew up and attended school in Lufkin. After graduating from Lufkin High School she earned her degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Phi Delta Epsilon Honor Society. She married her loving husband, James C. Day, Jr., on October 3, 1959. They made their home in Brookshire, where she loved being involved in not only her children''s lives, but loved and provided for the care and future of many other children that grew up here in Brookshire. Annie Laura believed in the value of good friends and remained friends with many of her childhood Girl Scout troops. She enjoyed taking time and trips with her girlfriends. She also loved politics, and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Texas Democratic Party, The Good Neighbor Commission, Advisor for Pan American Student Forum and was personally responsible for many resolutions passed to better the state of Texas. A founder of the Brookshire Museum, Annie Laura was also a member of the Historical Society and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookshire. She also enjoyed painting "the circle" in downtown Brookshire, and was always looking for ways to beautify Brookshire. Annie Laura is survived by her UNCLE: Edward T. McFarland; SON: Wilson Day of Austin; DAUGHTERS: Nancy McCauley and her husband, William "Bill", of Katy, Laura and her husband, Scott, of Katy; FOSTER CHILD: Patricia Werner of Houston, Texas; GRANDCHILDREN: James Byron McCauley, Sarah Katherine Day, Mason McFarland Day, Brandon Clint McGuire, Jared Edward Gonzalez; GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Jason McCauley and Jacob McGuire; and many other dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James Day, Jr., and sons, Randol Mason Day and Jason Waller Day.
