Joe Warner Norris

Joe Warner Norris, 83, passed away, Thursday, January 30, 2014, in Bellville, Texas. He was born on September 17, 1930, in Kingsville, Texas, the son of Joe Ollie and Ona Lee (Warner) Norris. Joe grew up in Falfurrias, Texas, graduating from Falfurrias High School. He was a student at Texas A&M University, graduating in 1952. Joe served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return to the States Joe was employed with IBM retiring after 37 years of service in 1990. Joe was united in marriage to Jean Knight on November 26, 1960, in Picayune, Mississippi. He enjoyed wood carving, tinkering and bird hunting. Joe was an Assistant Scout Master, a Lion Tamer with the Lions Club, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Bellville VFW Post #6522. Joe is survived by his LOVING WIFE OF OVER 53 YEARS: Jean Norris of Bellville; SON: Joe Norris and his wife, Tammie, of Grand Junction, Colorado; DAUGHTER: Katie Cooper and her husband, Larry, of Hempstead, Texas; BROTHER: Frank Norris and his wife, Lezley, of Ennis, Texas; SISTERS: Nancy Harris of Bandera, Texas, and Norma Gist and her husband, Allen, of Talihina, Oklahoma; GRANDCHILDREN: Courtney Nobles and her husband, Clayton, Rachel Norris and Dale Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ona Lee Norris.
