Ross Earl Beams, Jr., 83, passed away at Katy Memorial Hospital on January 15, 2014. Ross was born in Alfalfa, Oklahoma on March 30, 1930. He grew up in Weslaco, Texas, and later the Beams family moved to Alabama. He attended Gorgas High School in Gorgas, Alabama. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Iowa and USS Springfield from 1949 to 1955, obtaining the rank of TE-3. He attended the University of Alabama 1955-56 and he passionately followed their football team The Crimson Tide - Roll Tide! Ross enjoyed reading, playing guitar and looked forward to watching college football every year, especially Alabama. Ross met Frances Pauline McLemore in Northport, Alabama and married Frances on September 23, 1955. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on September 23, 2013. Ross and Frances moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1959, and later moved to Brookshire, Texas in 1978, where they owned the City Cafe for 20 years serving the Brookshire Community. Ross was one of 10 brothers and sisters. His surviving sister, Dolores Beams Watson, lives in Northport, Alabama. He is preceded in death by Claude Beams, Doris Beams Long, Carl Beams, May Galloway, Jim Beams, Bob Beams, Zettie Beams Beasley and Pauline Beams Klinkscale. Ross has one daughter, Robin Beams Aguirre, who is married to Richard Aguirre. Ross has two grandchildren, Melissa Beth Mutschler Aguirre and Richard Matthew Aguirre; and one great-grandchild, Tristan E. Kerrick. He is survived by his wife, daughter, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers for the service are John Williford, J. L. Rose, John Ledford, Leonard Milholland, Judge Oliver Kitzman and Judge Ted Krenek. Honorary Pallbearers include the members of the Breakfast Club.
