JACK BROOKFIELD NEELY passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the age of 59. He was born in Houston, Texas at Memorial Hermann Hospital on January 28, 1954, to Winston Brookfield and Sue Neely. He attended public schools in Bellville and then went on to study at Southwestern University in Georgetown, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976, he attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine and graduated as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 1980. Jack completed his podiatric internship in 1981 at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, where he met his wife, Karen Perry, a nurse. Jack and Karen were married in Carrizo Springs on May 2, 1982 and spent 31 happy years together in Brenham raising two children. Dr. Neely practiced podiatry in Brenham from September 1981 until his death in 2014. He specialized in podiatric OR procedures and out-patient services. Jack was a dedicated and sympathetic caregiver to all his patients. In 1990, he became a Fellow of the American College of Foot Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. For his many years of service and membership in the Rotary Club of Brenham, he was made a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. As a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America, Jack achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a third generation leader. In 1968, he attended the National Jamboree in Idaho and then went on to attend the International Jamboree in Tokyo, Japan in 1969. He served as Scout Master of Troop 72, and he guided several Eagle Scouts, including his son, John. Jack was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to spend his free time fishing, dove hunting, camping and hiking. He spent many of his weekends fishing with family and friends in Port O''Connor, Texas at the family camp house. He took his family on many sight-seeing RV trips throughout the southern states. As a master of the grill, he enjoyed barbequing for family gatherings. Dr. Neely is survived by his wife, Karen Neely, his daughter, Lee Ann Neely Broeker and husband, Adam, his son, John Neely, his mother, Sue Neely, his sister Catherine Ellis and husband, Mark, his uncle, Dr. Robert Neely and wife, Joy, his two cousins, Dr. Byron Neely and Dr. Warren Neely, his two nieces, Amy Nabors and husband, Clint, and Katie Ellis, and his six nephews, Ryan and Brett Perry and wife, Jessica, Chase and Travis Barina and wife, Sierra, and Nathan and Jacob Perry. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Winston B. Neely, and his daughter, Laura Beth Neely. The Neely family would like to thank the dedicated ICU team at the College Station Medical Center. Pallbearers are: Nelson Mikeska, David Charpiot, Robert Charpiot, Dr. Byron Neely, Dr. Warren Neely, Lanny Stron and Dr. Bobby Marek.
