Jose "Pepe" Alonso Vasquez

JOSE "PEPE" ALONSO VASQUEZ, of Brookshire, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014, in Katy, Texas, at the age of seventy-seven. He was born March 19, 1936, to parents, Augustine Vasquez and Maria Elizondo Vasquez, in China, Nuevo Len, Mexico. Pepe grew up and attended school in Mexico, eventually serving in the Mexican Army. On February 27, 1955, he married the love of his life, Elida Ozuna Vasquez, in Reynosa, Mexico, and they made their home in Brookshire, Texas. Pepe opened and ran his own business creating custom boots and doing upholstery, but those were only a couple of his many endeavors. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Assy #2721 in Brookshire and served as a volunteer EMT for Brookshire and Pattison. Pepe supported local businesses, charitable organizations and even drove a school bus for many years. He will be remembered for his love of his family, which he enjoyed spending time with and watching grow. Pepe never missed reading the local newspaper and also loved books and dancing. Pepe is survived by his WIFE of 58 years: Elida Ozuna Vasquez; DAUGHTERS: Rosie Vasquez Campos and her husband, Guadalupe, of Brookshire, Alicia Vasquez-Jones and her husband, Christopher, of Houston, Sandra Vasquez-Heard and her husband, Jerry, of Houston; SONS: Joe Vasquez, Jr. and his wife, Rachel, of Brookshire, Tony Vasquez and his wife, Alice, of Brookshire, Jesse Augustine Vasquez, Sr. of Brookshire; GRANDSON: Jesse Augustine Vasquez, Jr. of Brookshire; SISTERS: Lydia Vasquez Cobio of Pattison, Irma Vasquez Fernandez of McAllen, Ana Elva Vasquez of McAllen; BROTHER: Jesus Maria Vasquez and his wife, Lucy, of Reynosa, Mexico; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Longina Vasquez Cantu, brothers, Aurelio Vasquez, Armando Vasquez, Gonzalo Vasquez, Humberto Vasquez, and two infant siblings. Pallbearers for the service are Louis Campos, Joe Vasquez III, Chief Warrant Officer #2, U. S. Army, Andy Campos, Tony Vasquez, Jr., Jeff Vasquez, Captain Jesse Vasquez, Jr., Brookshire Fire Department, and Dillon Wade Heard.
