Alan Ewell Heard, 79, fell asleep in Christ on November 27, 2013. He is preceded in death by his loving wife June Verret Heard, his parents Barton M. Heard, Sr., and Margaret Richardson Heard of Lafayette, LA.., and daughters Phyllis K. Heard and Paige S. Heard. He is survived by his daughters Mary Margaret Heard, April Henderson and husband, Rob, son Philip S. Heard, Jr. and wife, Monica. His grandsons, Christian, Alex and Branch of Houston, TX.. Brothers, Barton Heard, Jr. and Tracy Heard, of Ark., Stephen Heard and Philip Heard, Sr., of LA.. Alan also had many friends over the years that have become part of the family, one of which is his best friend, co-worker and confidant, Nelson Holmquist whom Alan calls his brother. Alan Ewell was born in Bunkie, LA. and spent most of his younger years growing up in St. Martinville, LA.. Ewell served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and was in Germany during the Occupation after World War II. After serving in the Army, he worked in West Texas oil fields before attending college in Lafayette, LA.. He graduated in 1962, from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor''s degree in Business Administration. He joined Texaco in 1963, as a Field Auditor traveling the lower United States. A few years later he had the opportunity to travel worldwide as an International Auditor for Texaco. He loved to travel and worked in many regions such as Africa, Australia, Germany, and South America. On May 18, 1979, Ewell married the love of his life, June Verret, and in 1981, his baby girl, Mary Margaret was born. In 1990, Alan, June and Mary Margaret moved to Kuwait with Texaco. Alan became Chief Auditor for Texaco-Getty. They lived in Florida for one year during the Iraqi invasion. They moved back to Kuwait from 1992-1994. Alan retired from Texaco after 34 years of service and settled in Fulshear, TX. He was a devout Christian and joined the Second Baptist Church family where he was Ordained as a Deacon in 1997. He spent many years doing volunteer work for The Winning Walk and Outreach programs. Alan was a quick witted, God fearing man. He loved his family and his church family greatly. Alan is loved by many and will be dearly missed. God could not place a better man in your life''s path. John 3:16-17, For God so loved the world he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
