Rodney Joe Knight was born March 9, 1955, in Longview, Texas, the son of Reverend Louis and Doris Gaddy Knight. He attended school in Avinger, Queen City, Jefferson and Fairfield, Texas. Rodney graduated from Navasota High School, where he was a talented athlete in both football and baseball. He also attended Texas A&M. After several years working as an inspector for International Paper Company, he worked offshore in the oil business. Rodney later started his own lateral drilling company. He loved hunting and fishing, riding his motorcycle, and working on his property in Jacksonville. Rodney had a big heart and helped friends and family whenever and wherever he was needed. Rodney passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013, in Carrizo Springs, Texas, at the age of 58. He is survived by MOTHER: Doris Knight; BROTHER AND SISTER-IN-LAW: Roy and Janet Knight; SISTER AND BROTHER-IN-LAW: Letha and Greg Solether; NEPHEWS: Matthew Knight and Jared Solether; NIECES: Erin Hubert and Katherine White; and SEVEN GREAT NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
