Helen Fishbeck-Michalke

Helen O. Fishbeck - Michalke was born on July 29, 1938, in Hempstead, Texas, to George M. Orange, Sr. and Ruth H. (Gentry) Orange. Due to her father''s employment in road construction, she attended many schools, including Madisonville, Hempstead, Denison, Boerne, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Sealy, Waller and Katy. She graduated from Sam & Will Moore High School in Moulton, Texas in 1956. Helen was employed as the City Secretary and Tax Collector Accessor for the City of Brookshire from October 1964, through December 1993. She continued to work part-time until 1995. After retirement, Helen volunteered as a Pink Lady at the hospital in Weimar. She served as the secretary to the Board of Directors of New Bielau Community Center. She was a member of Catholic Daughters Court St. Michael #559 in Weimar, where she served as treasurer from 2006 through 2008. As a member of Agricultural Extension Service homemakers group, she held the office of President and Chairperson of the Country Store at the Colorado County Fair. She was a member of the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild and served as the chairperson of the Best Little Quilt Show in Texas in 2003, and was chairperson of the clothing and home décor section of the quilt show from 2004 through 2010. Helen is survived by her SON: Donald Lee Fishbeck and his wife, Georgia Ann, of Pattison, Texas; DAUGHTER: Jo Ann Fishbeck of Brookshire, Texas; GRANDDAUGHTER: Amanda Fishbeck-Fisk and her husband, Brian, of Richmond, Texas; GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER: Alyx M. Fisk of Richmond, Texas; SISTER: Patricia Harless and her husband, Jimmy, of Bryan, Texas; BROTHER: Herbert Orange and his wife, Linda, of Alleyton, Texas; SISTERS-IN-LAW: Evelyn Orange of Alleyton, Texas, Polly Orange of Columbus, Texas, Irene Fishbeck of Brookshire, Texas; SPECIAL NIECE: Laurie L. Brown of College Station, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and special friends from the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George M. Orange, Jr. and Eddie D. Orange.
