The Angels came and gently carried our Daddy and Grandfather, Berl Joe Gassner, Sr., to be with our Lord on June 3, 2013. Berl was born in Secor, Illinois to Thomas and Maude Gassner on November 13, 1915. They returned to Brookshire, Texas in 1918. Berl was a devoted husband, daddy and grandfather. He served as Water Superintendent for Brookshire Municipal Water District, and drove a school bus until his retirement. He also owned a tavern and enjoyed raising cattle. He was a member of the Brookshire Lions Club and was a volunteer fireman. Berl was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Maude Gassner; two brothers: Tom and Morris; one sister, Bernice; his first wife, Elizabeth; and granddaughter, Carolyn. He is survived by his seven CHILDREN, which include DAUGHTERS: Jo Fikes of New Braunfels, Judy Blome and husband, Bobby of New Braunfels, Jamie Jozwiak, Jeanette Brandt and husband, Johnnie, of Sealy; SONS: Morris Gassner and wife, Elaine, of Round Rock, Berl Gassner, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Clear Lake, Gerald "Piggy" Gassner and wife, Cindy, of Brookshire; fifteen GRANDCHILDREN, thirteen GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, one GREAT GREAT GRANDSON, one special niece, Randye, numerous nieces and nephews, and one very special friend and road buddy, Jack. A special thanks to Resolutions Hospice, and special nurse and friend of five and a half years, Mike. Also, to caregivers, Lisa, Christine, Trina, Cheryl, Renee, and Yessie (Lil Girl).
