Connis Knight Ryan

CONNIS (KNIGHT) RYAN, 83, of Bellville, Texas, passed away April 21, 2013, in a Brenham nursing facility. Connis was born October 22, 1929, in Austin, Texas. The daughter of Arthur and Ethelee (Strickland) Knight, she grew up in California and attended school in California, and Port Arthur, Texas. Connis married John Ryan on July 12, 1974, in Houston, Texas. They have made their home in Bellville, Texas, and have been members of the Welcome Lutheran Church in Welcome, Texas. Her Christian convictions were the main focus of her life. During her early working years, Connis was employed as a legal secretary. She later owned and operated Ryan Ranch, a Simmental cattle company, along with her husband. An avid outdoors person, she had an outstanding memory when it came to her cattle. She is survived by her HUSBAND OF ALMOST 39 YEARS: John Ryan of Bellville, Texas; DAUGHTER: Dr. Marianne Hopkins of Dallas, Texas; DEAR FRIEND OF THE FAMILY: Dwayne Schulz and his wife, Kerry, of Industry, Texas; and many dear friends. Connis was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ethelee Knight, and her son, John Charles Ott.
