Eugene Louis Fricke

EUGENE LOUIS "GENE" FRICKE, 70, of Sherman, Texas, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Gene was born September 29, 1942, in Round Top, Texas to parents Clinton Louis and Ruth Martha (Towns) Fricke. He earned his Associate's Degree from Connally Tech in Waco in 1968, where he specialized in welding. Gene married Barbara Ann Sullivan on October 8, 1993 in Sherman. Gene and Barbara made their home in Sherman where Gene was employed as a welder for Frucon at Folgers. Gene loved sports and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, refereeing basketball and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. And he also enjoyed barbecuing and smoking ribs for the family. Gene is survived by his WIFE: Barbara Ann Fricke; CHILDREN: Donna Durbin, and Craig Fricke and his wife, Prisscilla; BROTHERS: Wayne Fricke and his wife, Donna, and Johnny Fricke and his wife, Sharee; STEP-DAUGHTERS: Sylvia Sumter and her husband, Todd, Gloria Laferne and her husband David, and Teresa Davenport and her husband, David; GRANDCHILDREN: Jeff Durbin, Chase Fricke, Brooke Fricke, Nancy Bess, Dustin Davenport, Sarah Wunch, Toni Henderson and Aaron Fletcher; 3 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; MOTHER OF HIS CHILDREN: Evelyn Henning and her husband, Cecil; HIS FAITHFUL COMPANION: Jake; and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother Weldon Fricke and grandson Brooks Fricke.
