Alene Keyes Bookout

Dortha Alene Keyes Bookout was born July 29, 1922, in Davidson, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earnest Rayborn and Bessie Etter Keyes. She grew up and attended schools in the Rio Grande Valley, graduating from Santa Rosa High School, in 1940. Alene was united in marriage to Charles Bookout on October 8, 1944. Charles was enlisted in the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, moving there family around the country, mainly calling the east coast home. Alene and Charles lived in Taipei, Taiwan, before retiring to Houston, in 1961. Charles was employed by NASA for 20 years and Alene was a stay at home mom. They moved during the 1980's calling Bellville home until Charles passed away in 2004. Alene then moved to Farrsville to be to live with her son, John, before moving to El Paso to her son, Richard. Alene enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, cooking and embroidering. She love spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alene passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, in El Paso, Texas, at the age of 90. She is survived by her CHILDREN: John C. Bookout and his wife, Gale, of Farrsville, Texas, Richard Bookout and his wife, Carol, of El Paso, Texas, and JoAnn Parkins of El Paso, Texas; GRANDCHILDREN: Daryl Bookout and his wife, Julie, Paula Porterfield and her husband, John, Mark Bookout and his wife, Brittany, Rick Bookout, Jr. and his wife, Carrie, Andy Bookout, Sarah Bookout, Laura Martinez and her husband, Jose, Michael Bookout, Jamie Holloway and Jordan Hayth. Alene is also survived by her 15 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; SISTERS: Pat Griffith and her husband, Charles, of Conroe, Texas and Jackie Goode of Dallis, Texas. Alene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bookout, parents, Earnest and Bessie Keyes, son, Troy Bookout, son-in-law, Mark Parkins, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
