DURELLE "MEMAMA" (CLEVELAND) HALBISON, 74, of Brookshire, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 7, 2013 in Houston, Texas. Durelle was born May 28, 1938, in Channelview, Texas. The daughter of Delmar Durrell and Nina Lee (Phillips) Cleveland, she grew up in Brookshire and attended school in Katy, graduating from Katy High School in 1956. Durelle married Rheman Halbison on July 6, 1956, in Brookshire. She was employed with IBM until the birth of her first child, Kaye, in 1960. She then became a full-time mother and homemaker. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and most recently great grandmother, Durelle cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She looked forward to hostessing what fondly became known as Club Med "Memama" every summer. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing, shooting skeet, gardening, and in her younger years, she enjoyed waterskiing. Durelle was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Brookshire Chapter #652, Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her HUSBAND OF ALMOST 57 YEARS: Rhe Halbison of Brookshire; DAUGHTER: Kaye Gilliam and her husband, Bill, of Dubai; SON: Glen Halbison and his wife, Carmen of La Marque; GRANDCHILDREN: Durelle Cardiff and her husband, C.J., Garrett Gilliam and Glen Halbison, Jr.; GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER: Natalee Cardiff; SISTERS: Jeannette Koen and her husband, Jim, and Vickey Bordeaux; DAUGHTERS OF THE HEART: Gladis Khodr and husband, Hassan, and Greicy Barroso, all of Brazil, GRANDCHILDREN OF THE HEART: Amir Khodr, Omar Khodr and Raul Noronha, all of Brazil; and many other dear friends and relatives. Durelle was preceded in death by her parents.
