Betty Ann Jones

August 24, 1928 — February 4, 2013

BETTY ANN JONES was born August 24, 1928 in Worth, GA. She was raised in Brownsville, TX. She passed away peacefully and prepared to enter God's kingdom after a short illness on February 4, 2013. Betty , a high school beauty met a dashing aviator and became the devoted wife, after a 3 month courtship, of Col. Whitcomb "Whit" O. Jones (USAF Ret.) for the next 65 years. Betty is also survived by her son Wm. Paul Jones and wife Pam, and daughter Ann L. Searcy and husband Van. She also leaves her grandchildren Whitney Jones, Capt. Zachary Jones (USMC), Wesley Jones, M.D., Capt. Mat Searcy (USAF), Mitzi Searcy, and Mark Searcy, and three great-grandchildren. Betty and Whit traveled the world and the U.S. as a military family. Betty was the consummate military spouse no matter where or when duty called. She maintained a steady and faithful hand on the home front for her family. Whit and Betty's travel continued into retirement. More so, she was always the family navigator whether it be a car trip, a journey with Whit in their airplane or RV, and always wherever home might be. These last ten years Betty and Whit made their home in Bellville, TX. As usual Betty and Whit quickly assimilated into the friendly Bellville community making many friends and acquaintances. Betty was a voracious book reader, enjoyed card playing with friends, and over the years was active in P.E.O., DAR, Pan American Round Table, the Bluebonnet Society, and VFW while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow participants. Over the years she kept studying the Bible and her faith that God would protect her and take her when her earthly chores were done. Her prayers have been answered. She was a member of the Bellville United Methodist Church.
