JOE CHAVEZ, SR., 52, of Brookshire, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, January 25, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born June 25, 1960, in Hempstead, Texas to parents Juan and Mariana Moreno Chavez. He grew up in Brookshire and attended the Royal ISD schools. On April 10, 1980, Joe married Sylvia Espinosa in Hempstead. They made their home in Brookshire, Orchard and Wallis, before returning to Brookshire. Joe worked as a self-employed handy man. He was a Catholic by faith. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. Joe also enjoyed cooking. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and cherished the moments he was able to spend surrounded by his beloved family. Joe is survived by his WIFE OF ALMOST 33 YEARS: Sylvia Chavez of Brookshire; DAUGHTERS: Gina Michelle Lemos and Andrew Aguilar of Katy, and Valerie Marie Chavez and Abel Ramos Alanis of Brookshire; SONS: Joe Chavez, Jr. and Lysta Ann Paulson of Lake Jackson, and Guillermo Daniel Chavez of Brookshire; GRANDCHILDREN: Angel Michelle Aguilar, Alani Geneva Aguilar, Andrew Rafael Aguilar, Jason Eric Rojas, Natalie Marie Rojas, Izabella Marie Ramos, Isaiah Carl Chavez and Aviannah Marie Chavez. He is also survived by his FATHER: Juan Chavez of Brookshire; BROTHERS: Felipe Chavez and Jimmy Chavez; SISTERS: Rachel Guerrero, Sally Delgado, Irene Trevino, Janie Ortiz, Mariana Rios and Stella Hernandez; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Joe was preceded in death by his mother: Mariana Moreno Chavez; his nephews: Jimmy Chavez, Jr., Nicholas Grimaldo, Jr., Cresencio Ortiz, Jr., and Juan Trevino, Jr.
