SAMMY JOE SNELL, 67, of Brookshire, answered the Lord's calling Monday, January 14, 2013, at Memorial Hermann-Katy Hospital. Sammy was born November 27, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of John Snell and Gwenith Hampton Snell. He grew up and attended school in Oklahoma City. Sammy served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard achieving the rank of Tanker Man Grade B. After his honorable discharge, he was employed as a truck driver for an oil company. In 1983, Sammy moved to Somerville, Texas. On July 7, 2007, he was united in marriage with Josefina Govea in Pattison, Texas. They have made their home in Brookshire. Sammy enjoyed cross-stitching, cooking and gardening. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he treasured the moments he was able to spend with his family. He especially loved to play with his grandchildren. Forever cherishing his memory are his WIFE: Josefina Snell of Brookshire, Texas; SON: John Chris Snell and his wife, Misty, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; DAUGHTERS: Victoria Waddell and her husband, James, of Odessa, Texas, DeAnna Hanchett and her husband, Eric, of Buna, Texas, and Michelle Kloster and her husband, Tom, of Gulfport, Mississippi; STEP-CHILDREN: Sylvia Garcia and her husband, Ramiro of Pattison, Texas, Jesus Ramirez and his wife, Karla, of Brookshire, Texas, Cresencio Ramirez, Jr. and his wife, Myra, also of Brookshire, Francisco Ramirez and his wife, Lory, of Houston, Texas; 8 GRANDCHILDREN; 4 GREAT GRANCHILDREN; BROTHERS: Billy Ray Wisinger of Houston, Texas, Roy Wisinger of Brookshire, Texas and SISTER: Dorothy Jezek and her husband, Lee, of Rosharon, Texas; and many other dear friends and relatives. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Milton Snell.
