FELIX ELLIOTT NEWMAN was born on September 9, 1924, in Robertson County, Texas, the son of Felix Burrell and Laura Elliott Newman. He grew up and attended schools in Calvert. After high school, Felix joined the United States Marine Corp. and served his country during World War II. Felix was Honorably Discharged after 6 years of service. Felix was united in marriage to Lorene Martha Enloe, on June 23, 1946, in Houston, Texas. Felix was employed as an operator with Shell Oil Company, retiring after 36 years of service. Felix and Lorene were avid travelers, visiting places like Africa and driving to Alaska seven times and they enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri. They moved to Bellville in 1990, and made their home just outside of town until Lorene preceded him in death in 2006. Felix was known as a hard worker and loved time spent with his family. He was a devoted member of the Mill Creek Church, in Bellville. Felix passed away on January 10, 2013, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 88. He is survived by his CHILDREN: Kitty Montgomery and her husband, John, of Houston, and Elliott Newman and his wife, Susan, of Houston; GRANDCHILDREN: Angie Savage, Helen Outlaw and her husband, Haden, Luke Newman, and Daniel Savage and his wife, Amy. Felix is also survived by his GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Wyatt and Thatcher Savage; and other dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene, parents, Felix and Laura Newman, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
