Robert Raymond Dunk

ROBERT RAYMOND DUNK was born December 6, 1931, in Winchester, Texas, the son of Robert August and Ida Pietsch Dunk. He grew up in Winchester where he attended the Lutheran Parochial School through the eighth grade. He then attended La Grange High School. After graduating in 1949, he served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 - 1954. He then attended Blinn Jr. College and Sam Houston State University earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. On October 20, 1956, Robert married Claren Ruth Zoch in Winchester. They lived in Huntsville for 2 1/2 years before moving to Aransas Pass. Robert and Ruth have made their home in Brookshire since 1963 where Robert was employed as a Teacher and later Principal at the Royal Primary School. Active in community service, Robert had served as a firefighter with the Brookshire Volunteer Fire Department. He was a devoted member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Pattison where he had served as president of the church board, elder, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School superintendent. Robert also volunteered at the Brookshire-Pattison Food Pantry. He enjoyed bird watching and playing his guitar. But most of all he valued the time he was able to spend with his family. Robert passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his WIFE OF OVER 56 YEARS: Claren Ruth Dunk of Brookshire; SONS: Mark Dunk and his wife, Linda, of Manvel, and Paul Dunk and his wife, Jessica, of Katy; and GRANDCHILDREN: Robert Nicholas Dunk of San Marcos, Adriana Dunk of College Station, Tanner Dunk and Rebecca Dunk, both of Katy. Also surviving Robert are his BROTHERS: Belmont Dunk, Delbert Dunk and Monroe Dunk, all of La Grange; SISTER: Iola Perkins and her husband, Lee, of Winchester; BROTHER-IN-LAW: Elmo Zoch and his wife, Angeline, also of Winchester; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Eldor and Clara Zoch, brothers and sisters-in-law Wilford and Anita Dunk, Leonard and Leona Dunk, Barbara Dunk, Geraldine Dunk and Anna Lee Dunk, and sister Ida René Dunk.
