THELMA MAE WILLIAMS HARTMAN, 83, of Hempstead, passed away January 1, 2013, in Bryan, Texas. Thelma was born October 19, 1929, in Pattison, Texas, the daughter of Whit and Janie Weatherly Williams. She grew up and attended school in Pattison. On May 4, 1946, Thelma married Delma V. Hartman at the Christ Lutheran Church in Pattison. They made their home in Houston until 1972, when they moved to Sunnyside. Delma preceded Thelma in death in February 1997. Thelma enjoyed cooking, reading and working in her yard. She also loved fishing, playing dominoes and she especially loved to dance. A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she treasured the time she was able to spend caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thelma was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Pattison. She served on the Carrington Cemetery Association Committee and volunteered with the Red Cross. She is survived by her DAUGHTERS: Sheila Johnson and her husband, Jan, of Hempstead, and Peggy Copeland and her husband, Robert, also of Hempstead; GRANDCHILDREN: Derek Johnson, Amanda Edgar and her friend, Ed Sawyer, Andrea Wilson and her husband, Steve, Christopher Copeland and his wife, K.C., Robert Copeland, Jr., Meagen Copeland and Caydense Copeland; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Timothy Willis, Shawn Willis, Robin Willis, Max Wilson, Rex Wilson, Holly Copeland and Peytin Copeland; and SISTERS: Doris Rasler and Barbara Curry. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, brothers James and Sammy Williams and her husband, Delma.
