Katherine Anne Schieber Hoehn

May 30, 1916 — December 10, 2012

KATHERINE ANNE SCHIEBER HOEHN May 30, 1916 - December 10, 2012 Born May 30, 1916, to Robert E., Jr. and Thelma Schweier Schieber, Katherine was raised in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Cooley H.S. in 1934 and graduated from business college becoming a secretary at Universal Credit. Through a co-worker she met the love of her life, Louis Hoehn, and they married May 24, 1941, celebrating 56 years of marriage when he died in 1997. When Louis entered the U.S. Army during WWII she moved with him to Ft. Knox, KY, where their first child, Dorthea (Dottie) was born. After the war they returned to Detroit and their second child, Robert (Bob) was born. During the children's formative years and into their teens, Katherine devoted herself to being a wife and mother, often sacrificing her own wishes for those of the family. In 1957 the family moved to Dallas, TX. When the children were out of school she went to work for the Dallas County Tax Office where she was highly commended for her outstanding service. She retired early from Dallas County due to neck surgery complications. Katherine was a gifted pianist and often played during her lunch hours to the delight of all. She and Louis often played duets togethershe on the piano or organ and he on the accordion, guitar, mandolin or harmonica. She enjoyed sewing and knitting. She played golf, pinochle and bridge and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star and became Worthy Matron. When Louis retired they moved to Largo, FL, where they enjoyed living in a retirement community. Both of Katherine's sisters also lived in the community. After Louis's death in 1997 she continued to live in Florida until her eyesight and other health issues made it obvious she could no longer live alone. In 2001 Katherine moved back to Texas to live with Dottie and son-in-law Duwain, becoming an integral part of the "parsonage family" when Dottie was serving Matagorda United Methodist Church. They moved to Baytown in 2002 and subsequently to Brookshire in 2007. In 2011, when she could no longer stay by herself in their home needing 24-hour care due to eyesight and illness, she became a resident of Rose's Retreat Personal Care Home in Katy where she enjoyed nearly two more years of life passing peacefully into the arms of our Lord on December 10, 2012. Katherine was an independent woman with a strong faith, but like so many of her generation, she didn't speak openly about it very often. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church until coming to live with Dottie and Duwain when she joined the United Methodist Church. At 96, she considered it an honor to be the oldest living member of FUMC Brookshire. She made friends wherever she went and had a delightful sense of humor, often not realizing what she said was funny. She delighted in her children, grandchildren and great grands. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Preceding in death: Her husband, parents, sister Alfreda "Aunt Sis" Fedrizzi, and brother Robert E. Schieber, Jr. She leaves behind those to cherish her memory: Daughter Dottie Dumas and husband Duwain of Brookshire, Son Bob Hoehn of W. Palm Beach, FL, Grandchildren Kathie Norris of Katy, Steve Hunt and wife Dawn of Pfluegerville, Samantha Baker of Oregon, Bobby Hoehn of Los Angeles, Tina Morris and Melissa Francies of Amarillo, Patricia Hoehn of DeSoto, Great grandchildren Travis Ehrlich and fiancée Lauren John of Ft. Worth, Amanda Norris of College Station, Sarah Norris of Katy, Corey, Phoenix, Jaden and Alden Baker of Oregon, Divina Hoehn of Los Angeles, Dustin and Devin Morris of Amarillo, Yvonne and Jonathan Francies of Amarillo and Skylar and Lillyanna Hoehn of DeSoto.
