December 27, 1957 — December 17, 2011

TAMMY JO (THOMAS) PAYNE, 54, a long time Brookshire resident, passed away in Katy, Texas, on December 17, 2011. Tammy was born December 27, 1957, in Rosenberg, Texas, the daughter of Wesley Otho and Mamye Jo Waggoner Thomas. Her childhood years were spent in Katy, Texas where she attended the Katy public schools graduating from Katy High School in 1976. A hairdresser by trade, Tammy worked in a local salon and made her home in Katy. Her passion was hairdressing and she continued this career path until her passing day. Officially a registered member of the Choctaw Nation since 1993, her Indian heritage showed through her love of the outdoors. Whether mowing or working in her flower beds. Tammy preferred the outdoors to being inside. As a child, she spent many happy hours at the Blanco, Guadalupe and Brazos Rivers, and these rivers were the location for most of the family outings and vacations. In 1977, Tammy gave birth to her first child, her baby boy Wesley Matthew Taylor. Two short years later her daughter Whitney Marye Taylor was born. She has made her home in the Brookshire/Pattison area since 1994. Tammy treasured the time she was able to spend with her children, family, friends and her six beautiful grandchildren., She is survived by her MOTHER: Mamye Jo Thomas; CHILDREN: Whitney Marye Taylor, and Wesley Matthew Taylor and his wife, Victoria Taylor; BROTHERS: George Wayne Thomas and Wesley "Barrett" Thomas and his wife, Patty; GRANDCHILDREN: Amy Jo Taylor, Wesley Thomas "Tommy" Taylor, Zoe Elisha Taylor, George Wayne "Tre" Taylor, Gabrielle Rae Taylor and Allison Mariah Taylor; and many other dear friends and other relatives. Tammy was preceded in death by her beloved father, Wesley Otho Thomas.
