RICHARD VINCENT "R.V." DIXON, 91, of Pattison, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011, in a Katy hospital. R.V. was born August 2, 1920, in Scammon, Kansas. The son of Richard and Mary Pryor Dixon, he grew up and attended school in Pittsburg, Kansas. After graduating from high school, he attended the South Texas College of Law for three years. R.V. served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On November 20, 1943, R.V. married Thyra Varrick Diemer in Childress, Texas. They made their home in Texas where R.V. was employed in governmental relations in the oil industry traveling all around the country. R.V. and Thyra moved to Pattison, Texas in 1960. Thyra preceded R.V. in death on May 1, 2010, after 66 years of marriage. R.V. was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy and the VFW Post #9182 in Katy. He enjoyed traveling, grocery shopping, cooking and watching football. He is survived by his TWO DAUGHTERS: Carol Dixon Gostecnik and her husband, Gary, and Cassie Dixon Dickson, all of Pattison; GRANDDAUGHTERS: Dora Ann Gostecnik of Pattison and Rachel Dickson Kellner and her husband, Charles, of Knippa, TX; GREAT GRANDSONS: Dixon Charles Kellner and Kasen Craig Kellner of Knippa, TX; ADOPTED SON: Steve Major of Pattison; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thyra, son, Robert Diemer Dixon and his son-in-law, Craig J. Dickson.
