CHARLES DOUGLAS KISLING was born August 25, 1926, in Mexia, Texas, the son of Jesse Kisling and Ruby Cooksey. He grew up and attended schools in Mexia and Dallas, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School. Charles enrolled in Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, going on to receive a full scholarship, graduating from S.M.U., with a degree in costume design. Charles played the saxophone in high school and in college, marching all over the world. After college, he served his country and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army. Charles was a dress designer for Joe Frank in Houston with the Kisling label. He then left Houston and returned to Millheim to the family farm to raise cattle with his father and continued doing so for over 25 years. Charles enjoyed his cattle and watching and feeding birds, especially hummingbirds. Charles passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at his home in Bellville, at the age of 84. He is survived by his AUNT: Maudie Sunday of Mexia; STEP SISTER: Billie Schomburg of Brenham and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
