Elroy A. Schreiner

ELROY ARTHUR SCHREINER, 85, of Brookshire, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 7, 2011. Elroy was born April 10, 1925, in Guyman, Oklahoma. When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Sealy where his father served as the minister at the Lutheran church. In 1938, the family relocated to Houston where Elroy attended school. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during World War II in Normandy from 1943 - 1946 as an Army Medic Sergeant. Elroy married Dorothy Look on August 16, 1947, in Houston where he was employed as a supervisor at the GAF Corporation for over thirty years. He and Dorothy have made their home in Brookshire since 1986 and have been very active in church life at the First United Methodist Church. Elroy served in various capacities. His most recent office was Chair of the Board of Trustees. He also served on the Administrative Council and always looked forward to attending the Men's Sunday School Class and the Men's Brotherhood. After his retirement, Elroy enjoyed fishing and tending to his garden. Elroy is survived by his WIFE OF OVER 63 YEARS: Dorothy Schreiner; DAUGHTERS: Carol Evans and her husband, Stewart, Donna Soule and her husband, Edward, Diane McPheeters and her husband, Paul, and Patti Schreiner; SON: Richard Schreiner; GRANDCHILDREN: Caren Gandy and her husband, Jim, Kenneth Evans and his wife, Caryn, Nicole Palacios and her husband, Tony, Rachel McPheeters, Victoria Raines and her husband, Don, and Ana Soule; 7 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; ADOPTED DAUGHTER: Casey Pace; and many other dear friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Schreiner Paul, grandson Jonathan Steven Soule, and great grandson, Taylor Raines.
