BRIAN SOUTH passed away at home surrounded by his family Tuesday, March 8, 2011, after enduring a valiant but arduous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 62. Born December 4, 1948, on Galveston island ("B.O.I."), Brian was the son of Lorenza Lee and Marian Alpha Olson South. He grew up and attended school in Galveston graduating from Ball High School in 1967. Brian then left the island to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where he received his B.A. in Accounting, and was employed as a bean counter until his recent retirement from David Weekley Homes in Houston. On November 17, 1973, Brian married another native islander, Carol Grossman, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Galveston. They lived in Houston for a number of years before moving to Bellville in 1986. They enjoyed most every minute of their 37 years together travelling with friends, attending concerts and laughing with family and friends. A Lutheran by faith, Brian enjoyed hunting, his tractor and working on old cars. But most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family. Brian is survived by his WIFE OF OVER 37 YEARS: Carol Grossman South of Bellville; SON: Eric South and his wife, Jamie, and their beautiful daughter, Edie, of Dallas; DAUGHTER: Reagan South of West Palm Beach, Florida; MOTHER: Marian South; SISTER AND BROTHER-IN-LAW: Jill and Otto Welper; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee South, with whom he has been reunited. We'll miss you, Dad!
