MAGGIE LOUISE GREGORY WOODS was born October 5, 1929, in Houston, Texas. The daughter of Arthur, Sr. and Magnolia Stefka Gregory, she grew up in Waller County where she attended the Monaville School graduating in 1946. From 1946 until 1949, Maggie worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston while she attended nursing school. On June 16, 1950, she married L.D. Woods at the Second Baptist Church in Houston. Maggie and L.D. lived in Houston for two years before moving to Hempstead where they made their home for nineteen years. They then moved to Bellville in 1980. Maggie was employed as a Registered Nurse in Hempstead, Sealy and at the Bellville General Hospital for over twenty years retiring in 2002, after fifty-three years of nursing. L.D. preceded Maggie in death in 1992. An active member of the First Baptist Church in Bellville, Maggie enjoyed reading and gardening. She also enjoyed volunteering and assisted with the music at the two nursing homes in Bellville, and both the Baptist church in Hempstead and her Baptist Church in Bellville. She also served as a volunteer at the Bellville General Hospital. Maggie's life revolved around her family, and she especially treasured the time she was able to spend with her great grandchildren. She passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011, in Bellville, at the age of 81. She is survived by her SON: Harold Ray Woods and his wife, Mary, of Branson, Missouri; GRANDDAUGHTERS: Melissa Skinner and her husband, Jesse, of Bellville, Jenny Jacobs, also of Bellville and Juliette Andrus of Oregon; 9 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; 1 GREAT GREAT GRANDSON; and many other dear friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, L.D. Woods, her son, one sister and one brother.
