Celesta Schluens Meissner

July 24, 1915 — January 3, 2011

CELESTA SCHLUENS MEISSNER was born July 24, 1915, in Millheim, Texas, one of triplet daughters, to parents Charles Edward and Frieda Himly Schluens. She grew up and attended school in the Millheim area. Celesta was united in marriage with H.P. Meissner on February 28, 1936, in Austin County. She and H.P. moved to Brookshire, where they made their home while H.P. worked on a ranch until 1942. They moved to wherever H.P.'s work took them, while Celesta raised their family and worked as a seamstress from their home. Celesta was baptized on October 24, 1945, and confirmed on November 2, 1945, at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Freeport. She and H.P. moved back to Brookshire and made their home there until H.P. preceded Celesta in death in May 1962. To be near her family, Celesta then moved to Bellville where she was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and tending to her yard everyday. She especially loved her hummingbirds. Celesta passed away peacefully Monday, January 3, 2011, in Bellville, at the age of 95. She is survived by her DAUGHTER: Caroline "Susie" Kemper; GRANDSON: Heath Kemper and his wife, Angella; GREAT GRANDSONS: Nicholas and Noah Noska and Carson Lee Kemper; all of Bellville and numerous other relatives and dear friends. Celesta was preceded in death by her parents Charles Edward and Frieda Schluens, husband, H.P. Meissner, son, Charley Meissner, son-in-law, Leroy "Pete" Kemper, two brothers, Sydney Schluens and Fred C. Schluens and two sisters, Anita May and Birdie Schroeder.
