Henry "Hank" Schurig,

HENRY ERNST "Hank" SCHURIG, JR. was born October 17, 1932, in Galveston, Texas, the son of Henry Ernst Schurig Sr. and Frances Agnes Pastusek. He grew up and attended school in the Galveston area. A 1953 Texas A&M graduate, Hank was a devoted member of the Corps of Cadets. He proudly served his country in U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. A Lutheran by faith, Hank was united in marriage with Bunny Comstock in 1979, in Orange, Texas. Hank and Bunny made their home in Pattison where they were members of the Christ Lutheran Church. Hank and his brother, Charles, inherited the family business, H.E. Schurig, a freight forwarding company where Hank held the position of vice-president. Active in his community, Hank served as an alderman of the Pattison City Council. An animal lover, he especially enjoyed raising pheasants and chickens. He was extremely proud to have served on the A&M Poultry Judging Team that competed at the National level. He enjoyed cooking and watching good 'ole college football. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, life was good when he knew all was well with his family. Hank passed away Friday, December 31, 2010, at the age of 78. He is survived by his WIFE: Bunny S. Schurig of Pattison; DAUGHTERS: Ann Muir and her husband, Mike, of Minnesota, Susan Taylor and her husband, Roy, of Pattison, Melissa Carollo and her husband, Larry, of Houston, Gwendy Taylor and her husband, Jackie, of Pattison and Bunny L. Gegg of Iowa; SONS: Hank Schurig and his wife, Connie, of Wylie, Kevin Schurig and his wife, Patrice, of Kansas and Mike Curry of Pattison; GRANDCHILDREN: Nicole, Carrie, Joey, Austin, Cameron, Tyler, Josh, Hanky and Katie; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Justin and Nathan; BROTHER: Charles Schurig and his wife, Margot; and numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant children, Henry and Mary. Visitation: 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 Schmidt Funeral Home Graveside Service: 10:00 A.M.
