MARGE RUTH JOHNSON was born September 15, 1924, in Kilgore, Texas, the daughter of Guy C. and Theresa Wise Whitworth. She graduated from Kilgore High School and went to work for Todd Houston Shipbuilders as a welder during WWII. Marge continued her education at Lee College and received her Bachelors degree and became a registered lab and x-ray technician as well as an EMT. A Baptist by faith, Marge was united in marriage with Lynn Johnson in 1947 in Houston, Texas. Lynn and Marge made their home in Kemah until 1962, then relocated to Liberty County. Marge retired from the Redman Family Clinic in 1999 and moved to Brookshire to be close to her daughter, Kim. She had a passion for playing softball and was a key player for the shipyard team for many years. A huge fan of "Babe Ruth," Marge also enjoyed gambling in her retired years. Marge passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 25, 2010, surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer at the age of 86. Marge is survived by her DAUGHTER: Kim Johnson Branch and her husband, Darrell, of Brookshire; SON: Joe Lynn Johnson and his wife, Brandi, of Batson; GRANDSON: Melvin Miles of California; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: TaDarius "Billy" Miles and Meleigh Miles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn, her parents, sisters, JoElizabeth Tilton, Joyce Whitworth, and Jimmy Whitworth.
