M. Brantley Clegg, 62, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 surrounded by his loving family after his courageous battle with cancer. Brantley was born on July 22, 1948 in Houston, Texas. He was the oldest son of Millard Fillmore and Dorothy Daniel Clegg who preceded him in death. He was a 1966 graduate of Bellaire High School where he was not only a scholar, but a star athlete of the football and baseball teams. Brantley continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin where he studied world history for three years before traveling throughout the United States and Mexico. Brantley loved spending time with his family and coached his children in football, baseball and softball when they were young. He was an avid reader and a Longhorn Sports Fanatic. Another great passion was his love of the Clegg family history and genealogy, where he continued his father's work on the family tree. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and was awarded first place in the Texas State Chili Cook-off twice in the 1980's. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Magda S. Clegg, his children Larry Guerrero, Taylor, Yvonne and Ana Clegg, and two grandchildren, Lena and Mack. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters Dan Clegg and his wife, Laura; Ellen Gamble and her husband, Jerry; Bruce Clegg and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
