John Robert Mcgee,

December 1, 1941 — June 28, 2010

JOHN ROBERT McGEE, JR., was born December 1,1941, in Navasota, TX (6 days before the bombing of Pearl Harbour). Born to John and Clara Lou McGee, he was the fifth out of six children, the only boy. At the young age of six, his grandmother (Ackie-Mother), gave him the nickname Jackie, which he later shortened to Jack. In his early childhood he learned to hunt and fish from his father, and enjoyed time on the farm while exploring the woods with his friends. After graduation from high school in Baytown, TX, Jack joined the U.S. Navy as an Avionics Technician in 1958. He served on the U.S.S. Hornet during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jack married for the first time in 1962, and had two boys, John Robert McGee, III, and Patrick Porter McGee. He later remarried and had a third son, Sean Edward McGee. It was his early love of hunting and fishing that he later instilled in his three boys. He received his BS from the University of Houston; and graduated with his Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Living in the Houston area, he went to work in the Oil and Gas industry. In 1985, along with his partner, and with funding from CEDCO, he patented a Fluid Flow Measurement System, which would have revolutionized the offshore oil field industry, making blowouts on oil rigs obsolete. Sad to say but due to the cyclic nature of the oil industry, the project was canceled just as they geared up to go into full production. Throughout his career, Jack traveled the world utilizing the skills and experience he had developed in his field. Jack married Yelena Nikitina on February 19, 2000. They enjoyed ten years together, sharing love and caring for each other. They liked traveling but always returned to his home in Simonton, TX, "his" piece of land for some 35 years. Here he was able to exercise his passoin for gardening, and with the assistance of his sons, developed a beautiful retreat from the chaotic business world. Jack passed away quietly and peacefully Monday, June 28, 2010, at Memorial Hermann Heart and Vascular Center, after experiencing sudden heart failure the previous Thursday morning. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his wife, three sons, his one and only daughter-in-law, and his 9 grandchildren.
