EDNA FLORENCE EHLERT ENGLAND, 94, longtime Brookshire resident, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at her home. Edna was born Februay 23, 1916, in Pattison, Texas to parents Theodore Samuel and Mathilda Emelia Ebel Ehlert. She grew up in Pattison and attended the Pattison schools. After graduating from high school, she attended Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. On November 25, 1940, Edna married John Henry England in Hempstead, Texas. John and Edna made their home on the rice farm in Katy until 1948, when they moved to Brookshire. A devoted wife and mother, Edna was active in the PTA, served as a Den Mother, Room Mother and was a member of the Waller County Aggie Moms. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking and gardening. She was a talented florist and cake decorator and decorated beautiful cakes for numerous events. Active in the community, Edna served on the Royal FFA Parade Committee and helped found the Brookshire Pattison Ambulance Corps. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brookshire where she had served as Sunday School Secretary for a number of years. Edna is survived by her THREE CHILDREN: Charlotte England Pattison and her husband, Stewart, of Pattison, Arnold England and his wife, Linda, of Katy, and Robert England of Junction; GRANDCHILDREN: Deborah Pattison, Karen Pattison, Eric Hansen, MAJ Christopher Hansen, Heather Pavelka and John Christopher England; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Katherine Hansen and Clayton Hansen; and many other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and her husband, John, on March 18, 2010 after 69 years of marriage.
