CHARLES FLOYD SISTRUNK, SR., 80, of Bellville, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, in a Hempstead nursing facility. Born December 2, 1929, in Mitchell, Louisiana, Charles was the son of John Floyd and Gertha Ryles Sistrunk. He grew up and attended school in Oak Grove, Louisiana graduating from high school in 1947. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country from 1947-1950, attaining the rank of Corporal. After his honorable discharge, Charles moved to Bellville, Texas and lived in the Wayne Motel. He met his future bride, Dorothy Ignasiak, at the Mewis Cafe. It was love at first sight and they were married on January 24, 1951, in Bellville. They made their home in Louisiana before returning to Bellville in 1967. During his working years, Charles was employed first by Dixie Drilling Company in Louisiana, and later Tenneco, as an oil field worker. He traveled so much with his job that, whenever he was at home, he treasured the time he was able to spend with his family. After his retirement, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his WIFE OF OVER 59 YEARS: Dorothy Sistrunk; CHILDREN: Jennifer Sistrunk and Patrick McCarthy and Charles Sistrunk, Jr.; all of Bellville. Also surviving Charles are his FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Rachel Johnson of Sealy, Sarah Buenger and her husband, Clint, of Brenham, Stacey Sistrunk of Bellville and Charity Sistrunk, also of Bellville; and FOUR GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Haleigh Meyer, Kohen Johnson, Connor Johnson and Jack Buenger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Wanda Sistrunk Pfeffer, five brothers and one sister.
