DORIS GADDY KNIGHT, 85, formerly of Bellville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016, in Bryan, Texas.
She was born July 10, 1931, in Dallas, the daughter of L.T. and Oletha (Mayes) Gaddy. After her mother’s death, she was brought up by her aunt and uncle, Spurgeon and Edna Gaddy. Doris attended schools in Jacksonville, Texas and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1947.
She attended Tyler Business School and had a lengthy career as a school secretary and a secretary to a Bellville public accountant.
Doris was united in marriage to Reverend Louis Knight in Jacksonville, Texas, on July 7, 1950. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, studying the Bible, and serving at her church. She was warm and friendly to all and had a servant’s heart.
Doris is survived by her daughter: Letha Solether and her husband, Gregory, of College Station; son: Roy Knight and his wife, Janet, of Lufkin; grandchildren: Jared Solether and his wife, Stacy, of Sasebo, Japan, Katherine White and her husband, Jonathan, of The Hague, Netherlands, Matthew Knight and his wife, Brandie, of Lufkin, and Erin Hubert and her husband, Matt, of Lufkin; great grandchildren: Cooper Knight, Avery Knight, Landry Knight, Laney Grace Hubert, Lexi Cate Hubert, Owen Solether, Paige Solether, Kyle Solether, and Emerson White.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Louis Knight, parents, L.T. and Oletha Gaddy, Spurgeon and Edna Gaddy and son, Rodney Knight.
