Milton Calvin Speckmaier

May 27, 1951 — February 15, 2017

MILTON CALVIN SPECKMAIER, 65, of Wallis, Texas, passed away February 15, 2017, at his home. He was born May 27, 1951, in Houston, Texas, the son of Calvin Stewart and Lydia Ima Jean (Sandel) Speckmaier. Milton’s father, Calvin purchased a working dairy farm and moved his family to Wallis, when Milton was five years old. He grew up and attended schools in the Wallis area, graduating from Wallis High School, in 1972.  During his younger years, Milton worked before and after school on the family’s dairy farm.  He was united in marriage to Cynthia Marie Morris, on June 9, 1973, at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church, in Wallis, Texas.  They made their home in Wallis, where they were blessed with a son and daughter.  Milton was employed as a rice farmer and later, with the highway department and then in the oilfield as a roughneck.  He and Cindy went to work together at the Holy Family Church in Missouri City, where he was the Director of Maintenance and then together they became employed with Brazos Independent School District, where he was the Director of Maintenance and Transportation, until he retired in 2013. Milton was an active member of the Christian City Fellowship Church, in Sealy. He was an avid outdoorsman; Milton enjoyed barbequing for his family, tending to his fruit trees and his cattle, mowing, working in the garden with Mary, James and Cindy and just relaxing by the barn or riding his golf cart. Milton also enjoyed fishing at the coast and hunting behind the house.  It was always a “competition” with him, Joe and Dana, of who will catch the biggest fish or bring home the “Grande” deer.  The love of his life was being “Popo” to his four granddaughters; each were unique in the own way and precious in his eyes and held a huge place in his heart.  The girls loved their Popo.  After he retired, he continued helping Joe and Dana, make hay.  He looked forward to spending his days outside.  Milton is survived by his loving wife: Cynthia Speckmaier of Wallis; children: Joe Milton Speckmaier and his wife, Dana (Falk) and Mary Speckmaier Clark and her husband, James, all of Wallis; granddaughters: Saley June Speckmaier, Lydia Grace Clark, Zoe Abigail Clark and Rachel Renee Clark, all of Wallis. He was also survived by his sisters: Jeannie Ross and her husband, Harold, of Sealy, and Cathie Noviskie and her husband, Mark, of Bellville; sister-in-law: Judy LaFrance and her husband, Bo, of Wallis; best friends: Joe and Kaye Supak and numerous nieces, nephews, dear family and friends.  The family of Milton would like to express a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to Compassionate Care Hospice, for their wonderful care, CCF for loving on our family, and for all the prayers, kind and comforting words, calls, visitors, meals and help. Everyone has touched our hearts. Popo will be missed, but knowing he is healed and free of pain gives us a sense of peace. Milton requested his body to be cremated and his ashes spread on his farm, where he loved to tend to his cattle and hunt. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to Christian City Fellowship Building Fund, P.O. Box 637, Sealy, Texas 77474 or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 3833 South Texas Avenue, Suite 200, Bryan, Texas 77802.
