Eugene Vernon Mensch, Jr.

EUGENE VERNON MENSCH, JR., 76, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at his home. He was born December 3, 1940, in Texas City, Texas, the son of Eugene Vernon, Sr. and Clara Estelle (Ringgold) Mensch.  Vernon grew up and attended schools in the Texas City and Pasadena areas, graduating from Pasadena High School, in 1959. After high school, Vernon attended college, earning his Associates Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Technology. He was united in marriage to Annie Mae Hubbard, on July 22, 1961, in Pasadena.  Vernon was employed in the Fire and Safety Department at Lubrizol Corporation in Deer Park for 30 years before retiring.  They lived in Pasadena and Deer Park before calling Bellville home in 2003 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage.  Vernon was a member of the Bellville Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon.  He was a member of the Pasadena and Deer Park Volunteer Fire Departments serving as a fireman, EMT and arson investigator. He also served on the Deer Park City Council, Deer Park Safety Council, CERT, and served as a docent at the Austin County Historical Jail Museum.  Vernon enjoyed traveling, camping and hunting.  He is survived by his wife: Ann Mensch of Bellville; daughters: Shirley Wendt and her husband, Roy, of Nelsonville and Brandi Gibson and her husband, Kyle, of Katy; grandchildren: Stephanie Hemphill and her husband, Bryan, of League City, Justin Vincent of New Ulm, Taylor Hall of Cypress, Bryce Hall and his wife, Rebecca, of Deer Park, Kelsey Wendt of Spring, Morgan Wendt of Nelsonville and Reese Gibson of Katy.  Vernon is also survived by his great grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, Jayhew, Deserey, Kase, Christian and Lyndon. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dolores Jordan, son, Dwayne Vernon Mensch, and grandson, Darren Dwayne Mensch. Pallbearers are: Roy Wendt, Kyle Gibson, Bryan Hemphill, Taylor Hall.
