Althea (Gavin) Cuttino, 95, formerly of Bellville, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 6, 1918, in Fall River, Massachusetts, the daughter of Ned and Winn Gavin. Althea grew up in Fall River until the age of 12, and then she moved to Greensville, South Carolina. A city gal married a country boy, Herman Cuttino, on November 6, 1937, at her parents'' home. Althea and Herman resided in several cities, finally calling Miami, Florida home for 17 years, before moving to the Houston area. In the late 1970''s, they moved to Bellville and lived there until Herman passed away in 1986. A year after his death, she moved back to the Houston area to be close to family. Althea was a past president of the Women''s Lion Club Auxiliary, a volunteer candy stripper at Memorial City Hospital and a volunteer reading tutor with HISD.
